Tsukioka Yoshitoshi Paintings
Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (Japanese: 月岡 芳年; also named Taiso Yoshitoshi 大蘇 芳年; 1839 - 1892) was recognized as the greatest Japanese artist of his era and the last great master of the ukiyo-e genre of woodblock printing and painting. He is also regarded as one of the form's greatest innovators. His reputation has only continued to grow, both in the West, and among younger Japanese. A stone memorial monument to Yoshitoshi was built in Mukojima Hyakkaen garden, Tokyo, in 1898.
