Theodore Robinson, 1852-1896, was an American painter known for Impressionist landscapes, was a close friend of Monet. Several of Theodore Robinson paintings are considered masterpieces of American Impressionism. At Giverny, he painted some of his finest artworks that depicted the surrounding countryside, in the plein air tradition, sometimes with women shown in leisurely poses. Today Robinson oil paintings are in Art Institute of Chicago; Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City; etc..
