Jules Bastien-Lepage, 1848-1884, was a French oil painter associated with the beginning of naturalism and the later Realist movement. In 1879 he was commissioned to paint the Prince of Wales. After his death, a special exhibition of more than 200 of Bastien-Lepage paintings was formed at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. In 1889 some of the best Bastien-Lepage art was shown at the Paris Exposition. A statue of Bastien-Lepage by Rodin was erected in Damvillers, which was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia's Independence. -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
