Jehan Georges Vibert, 1840-1902, was a French academic painter who entered the École des Beaux-Arts when he was sixteen. The popularity of Jehan Georges Vibert paintings spread, notably in America, and fetched high prices. During the Franco-Prussian War, Vibert became a sharpshooter and became an Officier of the Légion d’Honneur in 1882. A large collection of Vibert oil painting was amassed on behalf of then bishop of Miami Coleman Carroll. This large cache was then donated to the Florida seminary St. John Vianney College in Miami. -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
