Julian Alden Weir, 1852-1919, was an American impressionist painter, member of the Cos Cob Art Colony. He painted landscapes and figurative works. Julian Alden Weir painting demonstrated a tendency for a lighter palette of pastel colors and broken brushwork akin to the Impressionists. The most acclaimed art by Weir was The Red Bridge. He was president of the National Academy of Design.
