Frans Hals the Elder, 1582-1666, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, played an important role in the evolution of 17th-century group portraiture. Two centuries after his death, Hals received a number of 'posthumous' students such as Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Daubigny, Whistler, Gustave Courbet, who have delved deeply into the Frans Hals paintings. In 1908 the National Gallery paid 25,000 pounds for a large family group. A primary collection of Hals art is displayed in the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem. -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
