Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, 1833-1898, was a British artist in Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, Aesthetic Movement, Arts and Crafts Movement. In 1885 he became the President of the Birmingham Society of Artists. Burne-Jones exerted a considerable influence on French painting among symbolist painters. After death, at the intervention of the Prince of Wales, a memorial service was held, it was the first time an artist had been so honoured.
