Abstract Expressionism Paintings
Abstract expressionism art is a post–World War II movement in American painting, developed in New York in the 1940s. It was the first specifically American movement to achieve international influence and put New York City at the center of the western art world, a role formerly filled by Paris. In the United States, Alfred Barr was the first to use this term in 1929 in relation to works by Wassily Kandinsky. Abstract Expressionism paintings influenced all those later movements that evolved.

Post World War II the art movement known as Abstract Expressionism began to take shape. It really saw popularity in American paintings, and was supposedly developed deep in the art scene of 1940’s New York. Getting a lot of its basics from Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism is a lot more spontaneous than previous styles. Artists such as Max Ernst, Jackson Pollock and David Alfaro Siquerios were popular with this style. Famous paintings in this style are Canticle, Woman V and Onement 1 from 1948. There were a lot of vocal critics of this style but ultimately it was one to remember fondly. -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
