William Holman Hunt, 1827-1910, was an English painter, one of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He was always keen to maximise the popular appeal and public visibility of William Holman Hunt art. For him it was the duty of the artist to reveal the correspondence between sign and fact. William Holman Hunt paintings were notable for their great attention to detail, vivid colour and elaborate symbolism. In 1905 he was appointed to the Order of Merit by King Edward VII. His auction record is £1,700,000, in 1994, for The Shadow of Death. -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
