Robert Campin, 1375-1444, known as the Master of Flémalle, was considered the first great master of Flemish and Early Netherlandish painting. He was one of the first artists to experiment with the use of oil-based colors, in lieu of egg-based tempera, to achieve the brilliance of color typical for this period. Several Robert Campin paintings may be seen in the Hermitage, Prado, and the National Gallery (London). -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
