Pin-ups are intended for informal display, e.g. meant to be "pinned-up" on a wall. Pin-up girls may be glamour models or actresses such as Marilyn Monroe
, Betty Grable, Miss Fernande Barrey, Gibson girl, Vargas, and Bettie Page. Pin up pictures are also known as cheesecake photos. The pin-up paintings, drawings, and other illustrations are done in emulation of these photos. The pin-up art could be cut out of magazines, or be from postcard or prints. Such works often appear on calendars, which are meant to be pinned up anyway. Later, oil painting of pin-up girls became an instant hit.
Regular pin up posters have been a part of history for years, as celebrities, political figures and even historical figures were thrown on a door or wall to show affection. Pin Up paintings provides the same feeling but with a more personal touch, taking these same figures and using oil paintings to make them come alive. It’s a different feeling, but one that is much more improved and provides a more collectable feel. When an artist puts their personal touch on pin up oil paintings, it can become something much more memorable if the person is of significance in the painting. -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
