John Henry Twachtman, 1853-1902, was an American painter best known for his impressionist landscapes. In 1893, he exhibited his artwork with Monet
at a New York gallery. Twachtman painted many snow-covered landscapes of his farm and garden in Greenwich. Late in life he produced a series of oil painting of vibrant scenes that anticipated a more modernist style yet to gain prominence in American art.
