Georgia Totto O'Keeffe (1887 - 1986) was an American female artist in movements of American modernism and Precisionism. She was best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. O'Keeffe has been recognized as the "Mother of American modernism". O'Keeffe won awards including National Medal of Arts (1985), Presidential Medal of Freedom (1977), and Edward MacDowell Medal (1972). In 2014, O'Keeffe's 1932 painting Jimson Weed sold for $44,405,000.
