Edward Henry Potthast, 1857-1927, was an American Impressionist
painter, is known for oil painting of people on the beaches. In New York he worked as a magazine illustrator, winning numerous prizes. The purchase of one of Edward Henry Potthast works by the Cincinnati Museum of Art may have encouraged him to be a fine artist. He painted sun-saturated art of Central Park, New England landscapes, and the Long Island beach scenes
