Arthur Hughes, 1832-1915, was an English painter and illustrator associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood
. His first oil painting, Musidora, was hung at the Royal Academy when he was only 17. The best-known Arthur Hughes paintings are April Love and The Long Engagement. His artworks are noted for their magical, glowing colouring and delicate draughtsmanship.
