Surrealism art is a movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual paintings. The aim was to "resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality." Surrealist paintings feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur; however, many Surrealist artists including Salvador Dali regard their artwork as an expression of the philosophical movement first and foremost, with the paintings being an artifact. Surrealists painted unnerving, illogical scenes with photographic precision, created strange creatures from everyday objects.
Surrealism went beyond being just an art movement and has been described as a cultural movement. Taking place in the early 1920’s, a lot of beautiful ideas was born from the interpretations. Beyond the strange creatures and worlds created, there was a sense of wonder that went along with every painting. Dada had a hand in inspiring the movement, and of course was big in Paris. Max Ernst and Giorgio de Chirico are big names that created great Surrealism paintings like The Red Tower, a memorable 1913 painting that is showcased at Guggenheim Museum. The most important part about Surrealism is that the actual paintings came long after the movement had already matured. -- The Copyright of Scripts is Reserved by Toperfect.
